Jonathan Oberreuter Álvarez
deniscaro Jonathan was born in the island of Chiloé. He has a degree in Acoustic Civil Engineering and obtained a Master in acoustic and Vibrations in 2013 at Universidad Austral de Chile. During 2009 he worked in the improvement of Room acoustics and virtual reality at the RWTH Aachen (Germany) under the mentorship of Dr. Michael Vorländer. In addition, for his studies in acoustics, he was awarded in 2011 by the ASA/CIRE being the first and only student Chile to receive this award for his work in this science. His title work allowed finding a new application of the acoustic intensimetry in room acoustics. Jonathan joined the glaciology CECs team in April 2012 to participate in radar measurements for Patagonian and Central Chile Glaciers, working on data processing to estimate ice volumes and its water equivalents. He is currently in charge of the operation of Subbottom Profiling System, which allows bathymetry measurement in proglacial lakes of great depth and also can detect sediments underneath the seabed.
