Cristián Martínez was born in Chile and studied Physics at Universidad de Chile, where he received a Bachelor degree in 1991 and a Ph. D in 1996. As a former Ph. D student of Jorge Zanelli, he worked in the physics of three-dimensional black holes. He joined CECS in Santiago as a postdoctoral researcher in 1997, and later moved to CECS in Valdivia as an Assistant Professor in 2000. Since 2004, he is a permanent researcher of the center. His current research focuses on the physics of black holes and General Relativity.
