Sourya Ray
THEORETICAL
PHYSICS
Sourya Ray was born in India and did his B.Sc degree in Physics at the University of Calcutta and his Master's degree at the Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur. In 2008 he received his PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, USA, under the supervision of David Kastor and Jennie Traschen. His dissertation was on symmetries and conserved charges in general relativity.

His research interests lie in the mechanics and thermodynamics of black
holes and black p-branes.
