  Summary : Climate change and its impact on the environment and society will be reviewed, with a special focus on paleoclimate information from ice cores. The following questions pose the basic framework for the talk: · How much has the climate changed? · How fast does it change? · Do small changes have an impact on humans and the ecosystem? · Have humans impacted the climate system and if so, how and how much? · How will changes in Antarctic climate impact the Southern Hemisphere and the entire climate? · What does the Tupungatito Volcano ice core in central Chile offer as a climate record?
