Stability and recent behaviour of glaciers in Antarctic Peninsula the interactions with ice shelves.
Centro de Estudios Científicos (CECS) and Dirección Meteorológica de Chile (DMC) initiated a joint project upon glaciers in the Antarctic Peninsula with the support of Bicentennial Science and Technology Programme/World Bank and the Instituto Antártico Chileno (INACH). The proposal, within the Framework of 2007/2008 International Polar Year (IPY) has the main focus of study the glacier responses in the Antarctic Peninsula to climate change. Among the expected outcomes are a better understanding of the current glacier dynamics in one region of the Earth where prominent changes are taking place, and their possible implications in terms of global sea level rise.
